I've gotten a number of replies to my thought for the day.

If you think that a day of mourning is a good idea, do what I did. Send
mail to president@whitehouse.gov. Encourage your friends to do the same!
Send this mail around to people you know, and encourage *them* to send a
request to the White House. Even if you're not a Yank!
