I recently received a VMSmail that had a "From:" address in this format:
From: KERNEL::RDGMTS::RDGMTS::MRGATE::"A1CHEFS::XXXXX" 30-JAN-1997 10:05:06.55
however, when I tried to REPLY to it, I got
MAIL> reply/noedit/nocc
To: KERNEL::"RDGMTS::RDGMTS::MRGATE::""A1CHEFS::XXXXX"""
%MAIL-E-USERSPEC, invalid user specification '"A1CHEFS::XXXXX"""'
Is this feature, presumably generated by a misunderstanding of the
address as an internet address, documented anywhere?
VAX OpenVMS V7.1, UCX V4, DECnet Phase IV.....
