Good day,
I'm using MCC V1.3 on VMS V5.5-2. I've searched previous notes on this
and it looks like I should be able to do the following....
We have a bunch of nodes (NODE4) that were registered in MCC (LOCAL_NS)
and their addresses changed. The addresses were changed using NCP (not
MCC). Anyways, how can I can MCC back in sync?? I've only been
successful by DEREGistering and re-REGistering the node4's (*very*
painful and labour intensive). There must be a better way...
I've tried RENAME (which is what the previous notes suggested) but it
looks like it only changes the NCP database. All I want to do is MCC to
recognise that Node4 CHM95 is address 30.12 (not 26.12)...
DetMCC> sho node4 0 remote node chm95
Using default ALL IDENTIFIERS
Node4 LOCAL_NS:.dna_node.hhlfm1 Remote Node 30.12
AT 27-OCT-1993 10:56:25 Identifiers
Examination of Attributes shows:
Address = 30.12
Name = CHM95
DetMCC> dir node4 chm95
Node4 CHM95
AT 27-OCT-1993 10:56:35
Directory successful.
Registered Name = LOCAL_NS:.dna_node.chm95
Name = CHM95
Address = 26.12
DetMCC> rename node4 0 remote node 30.12 address = 30.12
Node4 LOCAL_NS:.dna_node.hhlfm1 Remote Node 30.12
AT 27-OCT-1993 10:57:05
Rename completed successfully.
DetMCC> dir node4 chm95
Node4 CHM95
AT 27-OCT-1993 10:57:09
Directory successful.
Registered Name = LOCAL_NS:.dna_node.chm95
Name = CHM95
Address = 26.12
Thanks,
Ed

Good day,
I've searched high and low and still can't find out how to make MCC
change a node4 address... I need a command like:
MCC> RENAME NODE4 26.12 address=30.12 ! no such command exists 'cuz
RENAME only works for REMOTE NODE
or
MCC> SET NODE4 CHM95 ADDRESS = 30.12 ! (NOT!)
So, could some kind soul point me in the right direction... I really
hope I don't have to go the QAR route...
Thanks,
Ed
