The vmunix executables are in all of the fully populated backingtrees.
Fully populated backingtrees include *.nightly, *.2wk, and *.[pre]blN.
The submit trees [i.e. goldos, goldminos] are source only and do not
have populated obj, export and output directories.
So, you could find such executables in, for example,
goldos.nightly/obj/alpha/kernel/FLAMINGO/vmunix

| Are the vmunix executables kept anywhere in the backing trees ?
| I know that the obj subdirectory which keeps these, is missing.

That's because you don't sup them becuase of the size and the overhead
across the net, but no that and the output area which you also don't
sup are the only places where you'd find kernels.
You'd have to rcp/ftp them from zk3 if unx does not sup.
