Joyce, you're right, there is an $OldLog marker. There is nothing new
you need to do with gendatafile. Note that the $EndLog$ stays as is,
so you'll get a header that looks something like the following.

$OldLog was a convention Kim Peterson & I worked out - it's not an actual
RCS keyword, so rcs ignores it, but gendatafile looks for it.

The order of the @(#)$RCSfile line vs the $OldLog section doesn't
matter; you could put other comments after $OldLog if you like, like
"Original OSF History" and they'll get stripped too.

This should be documented in 'odeman gendatafile' but it isn't.
(Can you please file a ptt report on this man page?)

I just found one file in the reference page source pool that contains
ODE history information when it ships. The history is "old" history
from when the file was maintained at the OSF. I vaguely remember a
description of an ODE marker for this kind of history information so
that we could still retain the info in the file for our use, but so that
gendatafile would strip the info when the file got built. I believe it
might have been "$OldLog".

I have searched through my ODE folder and cannot find what I remember.
If there is such a tag, would someone please resend the description on
how to use it? Also, is there anything I will have to do differently on
the call to gendatafile?

				Thank you,

					Joyce
