I have a customer that has a PC and 2 Alpha's communicating over 2
DECrepeater 90C's and seeing multicast packets and data packets being
lost. He is also seeing Block Check errors in ethernet line counters on
the VAX and Alpha systems. We have explained to him the scenario with
the digital and analog phase locked loop timing issues and that he may
need to either swap out his PC's NIC card for a digital adapter or swap
the DECrepeater for another twisted pair variant repeater.
The customer has a Prolog 7331a-02 ethernet card in an SMC 9000
series controller in an STD BUS configuration on the PC. He mentioned
that the STD bus is an "industrial strength" bus. Unsure as to what
the STD bus is and/or how it may or may not be involved with this
issue. Reference note, KALI::HUB_MGNT 2906.1
Any suggestions or recommendations??
Thanks,
Gregg
