| 751.4 | trailing slash and alias expansion... | VAXUUM::KEEFE | Fri Apr 04 1997 11:36 | 27 | |
This is an old note, but I still don't quite get this.
On an NCSA server, in srm.conf, I've been putting a separate
alias with and without the trailing slash:
Alias /car /usr/local/etc/etc/car
Alias /car/ /usr/local/etc/etc/car/
The second format is common from the books I've looked at, but
if you only use that then you can't reach /car
Also, do alias definitions in srm.conf expand in subsequent alias
definitions? It doesn't seem so. For example:
Alias /info/ /usr/local/info/
Alias /info/pics/ /usr/local/info/pics/
The second alias will not expand into:
/usr/local/usr/local/info/pics/
--------------
..will it? Then, the alias definitions are independent of each other.
I've been having trouble with an alias definition and want to rule
this out.
