AltaVista search page had 5-10 seconds in the sun on 60 Mintues last
night. The had a segment on Rumours on the Internet and were taking
to some 'expert'. He states any search engine will find hundreds of
stories. They go to a close-up of the screan, show him entering
"twa flight 800" in AltaVista, and report 200 findings almost
instantly. At least that is how I remember it. They showed the
page again another time earlier in the report, but you had to know
what was there to see what engine he was using.
Nice big flash of AltaVista. Too bad the Digital logo wasn't more
prominent or visible.....

The way I remember it it the search string entered was:
"TWA 800"
(I also just double checked the tape in my VCR and that's
indeed what it was).
While just fast forwarding the tape to the story (entitled
"The Rumour Mill" FWIW) I noticed that even before the
search for "TWA 800", right near the beginning of the
story they did a search for something to do with investments,
using AltaVista).
