We're trying to run Altavista Intranet Search PX for Windows NT 4.0 on an
Alphaserver 400. When we try to start the Altavista Search PX Service
on Control Panel->Services, we get an mhttpd error. Any clues as to
what's going on here?
We've tried re-installing IIS V2.0 on the server but no luck.
Thanks in advance.

I realized my earlier description may have been too sparse. Some other
data then:
1) The altavista service works OK when started automatically right
after the installation process. It goes bonkers when the service is
started manually. It seems to have something to do with the mhttpd.exe
program.
2) Dr. Watson reports for mhttpd.exe an access violation: (0xc0000005)
at addrss 0x00428e70
3) Now I realize that IIS has nothing do with it at all.
Hope someone can shed light on this.
