Yes. DNews is available for both VAX and Alpha under OpenVMS. It's
also available on Windows NT (Intel and Alpha), a variety of Unixes including
Digital Unix, and they even have a Mac version. The current released version
is about 2.7r, and they are getting ready to release 4.0 in the near future.
3.0 was only available in Beta. DNews is the only nntp news server that
runs on OpenVMS that I am aware of.

Yes. The News Notes gateway has existed for years. You can find
this notes conference mirrored in the internal only newsgroup:
dec.notes.networking.internet_tools
I do not know the status of the gateway software as a product.

| RE Notes/News gatewaying, as far as I can tell,
topic threading is currently not working, and it's
been like that for quite some time. This makes it
rather cumbersome in my opinion.

That happens when you put in a title in the reply. It confuses the
Gateway. Leave out the reply title and you're okay.

Huh? I see NO threads at all for gatewayed conferences - just a
completely flat list of articles. Non dec.notes.* newsgroups
from the same server (usenet.pa) work fine. I am using
the Agent news reader.

the "correct" notes conference (NOTES-NEWS)
quite some time ago, but no-one replied.
