Server: Alpha Windows NT Server 4.0 IIS 2.0 Frontpage Extensions (not sure what version - recent though) Altavista Forum 2.0a Client: Windows NT Workstation 4.0 Frontpage 97 I tried to open a web for authoring on the server using Frontpage. It fails login authorisation UNLESS I enable Windows NT Challenge/Response authentication in IIS. The trouble with this is that Altavista Forum does not work with WNT Challenge Response - the installation notes for AVF state that it must be disabled. (I did however try it with Challenge/Response enabled, but sure enough it didn't work). I am waiting to re-gain access to the AVF Forum, but in the mean time, can anyone help? E.g is there a way to get Frontpage to use Basic authentication? Thanks, Greg.

Got it to work - the account I was using for Frontpage authentication on the server wasn't in the server's local domain. Seems that when Basic Authentication is used, that the account must be in the local (machine) domain. The Forum folks also said that there is a patch for authentication (authfilt) - I installed it before I fixed the account problem, so I'm not sure whether it contributed to the fix or not. I hope Forum supports WNT Challenge Response one day though. Greg. | |||||
