| 4621.1 | You need IEAK | OSTV03::MAKI | TANSTAAFL | Sun Apr 20 1997 05:43 | 7 |
| According to the IE page, you need to make "something" with
IEAK (Internet Explorer Administration Kit) to use auto-proxy feature.
I think it isn't Javascript. ( .asp file? I don't know. )

| 4621.2 | Make sure you have the latest version of I.E | NNTPD::"jannik@vbo.dec.com" | Jan-Erik Pedersen | Mon Apr 21 1997 04:37 | 9 |
| You must have >>I.E 3.02<<
then under the options menu do:
1. Use the connections menu to to disable
"Connect through a proxy server"
2. Then under the advanced menu, you can configure
automatic proxy config.

| Unfortunately, there does not seem to be the ability to simply point at a local
file containing the auto=proxy script - it must be on a server somewhere.

| I've been stuggling (unsuccessfully) with this as well. My basic environment is an Intel PC
with Windows95. I either RAS into Digital or connect to an ISP (hence the need to switch
from Proxy to No Proxy)
I've been trying to use my .pac files from Netscape. No matter what I do I can't get IE to
"load" them from my local drive on my PC.
The documentation on the Microsoft web site is not very useful, basically a bunch of URLs
that point to each other without explaining what you need to do.
There is a comment that only ftp, http (and some other protocols) are supported, i.e. not
"file"?, but I don't know how this helps.
If anyone has figured this out, I would appreciate hearing about it.
