John,
Thanks for your reply to my questions. We have ordered the book you recommend
and hopefully it will help clarify a few things. We do currently have a licence
for the OpenVMS Alpha source-code listings but the media is only version V1.5
and I belive that the code was mainly written in macro and bliss in those days,
is there any way we can upgrade our copy of the sources to a more current
version ?
Regards

Mark,
re. OpenVMS Alpha source-code listings:
I work in technical support & hence you should check the following
information with your local Digital reseller:
Product QB-MT1AB-E8 is the "OpenVMS AXP Listings CD-ROM Kit & License",
which was selling for 2,284 US dollars a few months back (-sorry I don't
have UK price, but typically it'll be ~2,000 UK pounds). My understanding
is that this product ID is generic, and if you want a specific version of
OpenVMS Alpha source-code listings (e.g. for v7.1), then you should specify
this when ordering.
Given that you already have a source-code license, then you might want to
enquire about QT-MT1AB-Q8: "OpenVMS Alpha Source Listings Service". Though
this might possibly be an internal-to-Digital-only product code.
Hope this helps.
