Subj: FORTRAN License
We have a DEC Alpha system which we just upgraded from version 3.2 to 4.0B.
As part of this upgrade, we installed the "Fortran for Digital UNIX Alpha
Systems", version 4.1 MV2AA from the layered product cds dated January,
1997. On our earlier system (3.2) we used FORTRAN 77 (which is all we
really need). Our old license FORTRAN-O bombs on the new system with the
message
"License is invalid for this version of the product".
Is there any way to get our old license to work, like reinstalling the
earlier compiler? If so, will our application be degraded in performance?
We use pthreads and are planning to modify our software to the new standard
supported in version 4.0b of DEC UNIX.
We have the temporary packs for FORTRAN-O and FORTRAN90-O, but they will
expire on May 1, 1997.

Ron,
I'd certainly like to see the output of
lmf list full for FORTRAN-O
You certainly should not get that error message using PAKs from DIGITAL
software partner programs.

To Ron Young,
Regarding the problem with the FORTRAN-O PAK that you reported.
"License is invalid for this version of the product".
Are you still experiencing the problem? I didn't see any similar report.
Was there a "Product Release Date" on the PAK?

Okay, Ron. I'm aware that the 1-MAY license PAKS are due to run out.
If you have a system that's on loan from DIGITAL, your company should have
received a letter with instructions for a physical inventory
of the hardware. If you received that mailing, then you are all set for
the upcoming distribution of PAKs. If not, then we need to get you in touch
with the Alpha Seed Unit program manager.
If, however, the system is owned by your company, then I recommend that
you get the ASAP program's SDK. Call 800-332-4786 for info and ordering.

Mark -
We just used the developer PAK which works with FORTRAN 90. However, it is
due to bomb off at the end of this month and we have not received any reply
on an extension. We have the same problem with UCX on the VMS system.
This is an E-mail that I sent earlier to the developer group for which I
have not received any answer.
I have 2 license files that will expire on May 1. I need replacements as
soon as possible.
