Subject: UNIX 4.0B Window Manager
Mime-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"
Is there any way to increase the scroll back buffer on terminal sessions
running under the window manager in UNIX 4.0B? I have looked under the
WINDOW, EDIT and OPTIONS menus and cannot seem to find the place to change
it. The problem is that it only seems to store about 100 lines, which
misses a lot of our output.
Thanks, Ron

Subj: your question about the scroll buffer...
Ron Young
After doing some research I found how to increse the scroll buffer size!
I assume that you are using dtterm with Digital UNIX 4.0 or above.
please follow the below given steps:
after opening all your sessions or dtterms
STEP A
cd $HOME/.dt/sessions
ls -l
If you dont see a directory called home, go to STEP B given below
otherwise
cd home
edit the dt.session file add to the line that corresponds to
the session for which you need to increase the scroll buffer,
at the -sl number of lines. for example
you may see several line like this
dtsmcmd -hints "-geometry 1x1+0+0 -state NormalState -cmd \"/usr/dt/bin/dtterm-
session dtaakFka -ls -sl 10000 \"" -screen 0 -cmd "/usr/dt/bin/dtterm -sessiond
taakFka -ls"
each correspons to one dtterm session
add to the end of the line -sl number. for example
dtsmcmd -hints "-geometry 1x1+0+0 -state NormalState -cmd \"/usr/dt/bin/dtterm-
session dtaakFka -ls -sl 10000 \"" -screen 0 -cmd "/usr/dt/bin/dtterm -sessiond
taakFka -ls -sl 1000"
_________
the scroll buffer is 1000 lines now
STEP B
When change directory to $home/.dt/sessions, if you dont see a directory home,
then you need to save your current session as home. To do this
clik on style manager,
clik on startup
change "resume current session" "return to home session"
clik OK
logout and login
NOW GO TO THE STEP A above
IF you find the writeup is not clear, please let me know. I'll putit
differently.
Thank You
With Best Regards
-Nari
