Brief Description of Problem:
-----------------------------
Mitch is having trouble with socket related UCX calls in general and how
they map (or fail to!) to equivalent calls on U*ix. Telephone tag in progress,
cheers...

P.S. This sounds like a continuation of call #3326 back in March where I
referred him to the CSC for specific problems with the recvfrom()
function call. If this is more of the same, I can't help him...

| 3563.1 | Anyone know of a UCX "cookbook"?... | AMCUCS::SWIERKOWSKI | Quot homines tot sententiae | Wed Apr 30 1997 20:01 | 20 |
Greetings! I got mail this morning from Mark suggesting that this might be a redundant call that Robert Shen was working on already. I haven't heard back from Robert but I did send the developer some mail back and forth. If anyone knows of a good "cookbook" on migrating network programs from U*ix to OpenVMS/UCX outside the normal doc set for UCX, let me know. A search through the UCX conference came up dry and the UNIX/VMS "Interoperability" book doesn't have much meat in it on this topic. Mitch is having lots of troubles (mostly the socket related stuff) getting code to run under UCX that had been running on other Unix'es. I told him without specific configuration/symptom information, I can't do much for him... | 3563.2 | Call closed... | AMCUCS::SWIERKOWSKI | Quot homines tot sententiae | Mon May 05 1997 16:55 | 17 |
Greetings! I hadn't heard back from Robert Shen re: the possibility that this might be a redundant call, so I started email tag with Mitch on Wednesday last week. After some basic Q & A and some pointers I sent Mitch, he sent back a reply thanking me anyway. Since Mitch really wanted general "how to?" sort of stuff and I coundn't offer help without a specific example/error from him, I'm closing this call...
